The music community in Georgia should be excited about the House Bill 155 also known as the Georgia Music Investment Act but who really wins? Designed to retain, create and grow thousands of music jobs in Georgia is wonderful but who actually benefits from this bill set to go into action Monday, January 1st 2018?

The bill focuses on 3 major initiatives surrounding Live Productions, Recording, and Scoring. Georgia has seen a decline in attracting projects that have the potential to make the state the entertainment capitol of the world. You can read more on the bill here.  According to Patchwerk Recording Studios co-owner Curtis Daniel III the bill is not actually helping the music community as you think. To be more direct totally disregards the hip hop community which has been thriving for more than a decade. The title is misleading and he encourages the passionate to really look at who will benefit. 11 Alive news reporter Neima Abdulahi reached out to Curtis and he held no punches on his views. Watch below and leave feedback.

After reading more about the bill it seems the music community was fooled into calling, writing, and setting up meetings with State Representatives to boost the bill forward. At this point we can just watch how this unravels.
