28-year-old Nick Grant recently dropped a new album this week named Return of The Cool. With a great support system such as Culture Republic's very own Chaka Zulu and Jason Geter it was no doubt that this young rapper from South Carolina deserved to be checked out.
Producers looking for an opportunity and exposure should get involved with That Tight Thirty Two On Thurzdayz contest. The event benefits both producers and emcees. Producers must submit three wav files for review. The staff selects which producer has the best three tracks. If selected the producer is invited to attend the session and watch multiple emcees spit over their production. The producers can exchange contact info and build a relationship with the talented emcees for future collaborations. Put some definition to your sound!

The winner of the producer portion for That Tight Thirty Two On Thurzdayz for the month of August goes to Chase The Money hailing from St.Louis, Missouri. Similar to the emcee registration, Chase entered the contest going against some heavy hitters. Every month the judges look for production that make it fairly easy for true emcees to feel comfortable unleashing 32 bars inside the Sonically Superior establishment known as Patchwerk Recording Studios. Check out our interview with Chase The Money and connect with him for your next project!
The reason the city of Atlanta continues to thrive in the realm of music involves the extensive networking happening daily. Patchwerk Recording Studios knows a thing or two about the process. If you actually have a plan with realistic goals, you can make quite a path for yourself. This was part of the idea for creating the IdOMUSIC® Weekend which was recently completed in Flint, Michigan last month June 24th-June 26th.
Tonight any and all producers should be in attendance of iStandard's Producer Showcase, The Road to Beast of the Beats X- Presented by Akai Professional & Native Instruments. Powered by Monster Energy & CollabMix. Always creating a credible platform to be reconized the organization evades Harlem Nights located downtown Atlanta, Georgia.
A sold out crowd made their way to Patchwerk Studios to experience the latest I dO MUSIC Weekend Werkshop series with Grammy Award winning music producer DJ Toomp.
If attendees were paying attention at the I dO MUSIC Weekend Werkshop featuring Aldrin 'DJ Toomp' Davis, they would have noticed that the super producer showed a great since of pride when describing his come up in the music business. While breaking down, 'The Anatomy of a hit Record,' the Atlanta native broke down how much different it was to get put on 30 years ago. Although Davis had the advantage of being an early bloomer, getting DJ money locally in high school, after graduation, he realized that in order to really make some noise, he had to move to Miami, which had a much stronger music industry presence at the time.
Toomp ultimately explained that having great ears, an authentic obsession for music, a deep music collection, and creative skills, and knowledge of some of the latest production hardware and software, should put you on the path to hit records. Davis also stressed the importance of asking plenty of questions, learning the business aspect of the industry, and surrounding yourself with a solid team. Toomp's hitmaking discography includes smashes that he has created with Mariah Carey, Jay-Z, Kanye West, TI, Ludacris, Jeezy, Rick Ross, and many others.
We had a chance to sit down with with 2x Grammy Award winning producer Carl Mo interviewed by studio owner of Patchwerk Recording Studios Curtis Daniel III. The two discussed what Atlanta was all about back in the early days. Carl Mo takes us through his production credits and unmask many stories never heard before behind his major records.
