A senior journalism student at Georgia State University, interested in music journalism.

Our first ever Masterclass was taught by one of the South’s most prominent producers, the legendary Drumma Boy . This event was a 2 -day werkshop geared towards up-and-coming producers, where they would receive one-on-one advice and tips from the Grammy-nominated producer, as well as netwerk with other producers from all over the country.

Club spins are cool, radio spins are great, but coverage in the media is what really makes you a household name.

In this sold-out werkshop, Neima Abdulahi (@neimerdreamer) shared the importance of pitching your music and content to media sources, be it MTV or CNN. She also shared tips on how to go about the pitch, proper netwerking, and how important it is for artists to be aware of what is going on in their community, along with the community’s history.

“Having a story that resonates with people, I think is the most important thing…something that resonates with your community. And being connected to your community so you know what resonates with them.” – @sammyapproved (Host/Content Creator)

IdOMUSIC kicked the year off with a packed house Thursday night, at Apache Café. Every first Thursday of the month we bring artists, producers, bloggers, engineers, and music lovers together in order to learn, netwerk, promote, and perform.

“A film festival for people who love music,” sounds like a great idea.

Do you love to study music, and want to be inspired instead of just taught?

Grammy award winning musician Chilly Gonzales is hosting an all expense paid, 8-day musical workshop in France next April, where he plans to do just that.

Back for the First Time was Ludacris’ first major album, which released 17 years ago, on October 19, 2000. Patchwerk Recording Studios is proud to hold a Multi Platinum plaque commemorating more than 2,000,0000 sold copies of the trailblazing album. Since then it has gone up to 3,000,000 sold!

The Patchwerk Playlist is released once a month, and is compiled of favorites from the staff at Patchwerk Recording Studios in Atlanta, Ga. With input from engineers to interns, the Patchwerk Playlist hits just about every vibe you would want the perfect playlist to hit.

Behind the Scenes of That Tight32

On the last Thursday of every month, PWR offers an experience like no other to up and coming producers and emcees. I got a chance to see the contest firsthand, and was blown away by the great vibes, professionalism, talent, and the plain awesomeness of what was taking place. We have to give a shout-out to the winning producer for this month's beats: @MiniProducer

Do I Really Need my Song Mixed?

Simply put…yes, you do. If you plan on exposing your music to the public, selling your music, or performing your music, you want your song to be mixed, so that you are delivering the best product.

Recording is a very small step in creating and distributing music, however it is one that you want to make sure you get the best quality from. A house that starts with a shaky foundation is bound to break over time…and the same applies for your vocals.
