Do I Really Need my Song Mixed?
Simply put…yes, you do. If you plan on exposing your music to the public, selling your music, or performing your music, you want your song to be mixed, so that you are delivering the best product.
Recording is a very small step in creating and distributing music, however it is one that you want to make sure you get the best quality from. A house that starts with a shaky foundation is bound to break over time…and the same applies for your vocals.
Thursday night’s episode of Cookies and Lemonade was very special. We featured not one, but 2 Patchwerk engineers, our #Tight32 Engineer Latrez and the one named K-Rich both gave amazing feedback. Both Dre and I even felt left out at one point because K-Rich and Trez kept speaking that #EngineerTalk (New hashtag alert)!. Whenever he sits on the show, you’re guaranteed to get accurate feedback, said in such a pleasant way. Also, on this episode, we debuted a new segment: The Lemonade Stand! The Lemonade Stand is where we highlight what’s happening around Patchwerk.

Jay-Z Releases BAM BAM Sister Nancy and Damian *Junior Gong* Marley take Jay-Z back to Jam down in the feature video from his critically acclaimed project 4:44. The single has gained momentum since the album launched on TIDAL and includes vocals from Bob Marley's youngest son Junior Gong alongside popular female emcee Sister Nancy. The track is a remake from Sista Nancy's classic anthem Bam Bam, that in recent years has been sampled in several projects including Kanye's song "Famous" featuring Rihanna & Swiss Beats.

Our monthly contest called That Tight Thirty Two On Thurzdayz(Tight 32) Emcee and Producer contest recently wrapped up with Lelah Mills taking the title for the month of July. As always the contest brings about various emcees from all walks of life and is celebrated with the winner rocking the IdOMUSIC stage to showcase their full ability. Armed with the production of our Tight 32 producer of the month's Robert Limbo, Lelah was able to dress her 32 bars up and show out.
The Plaque of the Month for July goes to the Brooklyn emcee Nas. Listed in many conversations as one of hip hop's greatest, Patchwerk Recording Studio's has the honor of saying we have werked on numerous projects including the July 15, 2008 release "Untitled." Amongst all the excitement of Jay Z releasing what some view as his most socially awoke album, you only need to look in your hip hop history books to realize Nasir Jones has tackled these issues for years.
As we prepare for our contest today it is important for us to share the stories of the winners who grace our platform. This month we had a couple of milestones take place. The producer segment featured our first female producer hailing from Brooklyn, NYC who is not new to winning trophies as well as a talented emcee from Ahoskie, NC winning the contest at our first live Tight 32 performance. What I mean by live is we hosted the competition at our monthly showcase IdOMUSIC at Apache Cafe and let the audience decide the winner. Shout out to Rodrick R.O.C and Ms.Madli for representing. Check out their interviews below and come see them rock the stage at Opera Nightclub tonight!
