Behind the Scenes of That Tight32

On the last Thursday of every month, PWR offers an experience like no other to up and coming producers and emcees. I got a chance to see the contest firsthand, and was blown away by the great vibes, professionalism, talent, and the plain awesomeness of what was taking place. We have to give a shout-out to the winning producer for this month's beats: @MiniProducer

1. Bear Witness

2. Yoshi

3. Tuckey

4. King David

5. Real Sixman

6. Freddie Usher

7. Awethentic

8. The Kid Big Ty

9. Bruh Man

10. Supahero Nick

11. Eric Mack

12. Pierre

At 2:00, artists started rolling in, for their chance to spit 32 bars over a beat they chose from our Tight32 producer of the month. The artist were greeted by our Cookies & Lemonade host Jamear J, as she streamed live on Patchwerk’s Periscope and Instagram (@patchwerkstudio). I could tell from the minute the artists walked through the door, that they felt welcomed and comfortable.

Each artist is then given 15 minutes to lay down their bars, as well as an in-studio performance. Did I mention they get the chance to work with one of PWR’s certified engineer @LaTrezTheEngineer while recording their track? During their 15 minutes in the booth, the artist will be recorded and photographed, also adding to their experience at PWR.

The staff at Patchwerk werks to make sure everyone that enters our home, feel as if they are home. Everyone on PWR’s staff played their role, from the timekeeper to the engineer, which made for a smooth event all the way through. Once an artists’ time is up, they exit the studio and receive a quick interview, while the next artist is already getting set up in the booth. It’s seamless!

The Tight32 Contest is such a great opportunity and experience. I encourage all artists and producers to sign up for the contest and see how we’re really out here werking #fortheculture!
